Farewell IDMers

Hello IDMers!

After a wonderful two years of working on the BEST magazine in the world, I have decided that it is time to move on to a new adventure and hand over the magazine to my colleague Tallulah Speed.

Tallulah is the Editor-in-waiting for IDM and I know she will be a fantastic addition to both www.irishdancing.com and IDM. She is very excited to meet all of you and I know you will give her a warm welcome, as you did for me when I first joined the IDM team. Tallulah has got lots of exciting plans for IDM and would also love to hear about your own ideas for the website and magazine. Why not drop her a message and welcome her onboard by Clicking Here.

There are great times ahead for IDM with excellent plans in the pipeline for making it bigger and even better - watch this space!

I am very sad to be saying goodbye to all of you and would to thank you for your fun, support and generally for being such a lovely bunch of Irish
dancers.

I will miss you all but can assure you that Tallulah will do a brilliant job!

Bye IDMers,

Lucy xxx

Liffey Rivers competition winner!

Last month IDM gave you the chance to win a signed Liffey Rivers book by Brenna Briggs! To enter, you simply had to write 200 words on "I love Liffey Rivers because..." The lucky winner, as picked by Brenna herself, was....drum roll please...
Eva a.k.a spirit of the gael. Well done Eva! She loves Liffey Rivers because:
"Liffey Rivers is exciting because she is always having adventures.  Using her intuitive brain, she always manages to know when she’s in danger, and what the villain is up to, rather like Nancy Drew.  Because Liffey’s father is such a busy man and her mother is dead, Liffey often finds herself alone and can have adventures normal children couldn’t.  For example, Liffey buys plane tickets to Ireland with out consulting anybody, and then disappears from home to catch her plane. Liffey also has problems that every Irish dancer struggles with: moving up to prize winner and finding and buying the beautiful dream solo dress. All this is made worse by people like her horrible Aunt, who yell cheerleader songs at the Feis, while Liffey is dancing, which is very funny, though not to Liffey.  I love Liffey Rivers because she is intelligent, has thrilling adventures, has her share of successes and defeats, like normal everyday people and Irish dancers, everything that happens to her is humorous, although not a bit funny to her, and, most important, she is an Irish dancer, which is the most exciting, exhilarating form of dance in the world."

She will now have the opportunity to review a Liffey book and have it published in IDM!

Have you got a birthday in August?

Anyone with a birthday in August can be in with a chance of featuring in the magazine - just drop me a line telling me: the date of your birthday, how old you will be, your ID achievements, other hobbies you have and a couple of pictures of yourself. Email it to: lucy@irishdancing.com. Lucy x

IDM Fashion Special!

The August issue of IDM has got a fantastic Fashion Special and would like to get all of you talented dress makers involved.

I often hear of talented mums or relatives making the most beautiful Irish dance dresses or waistcoats and it would be great to share your tips and advice with other budding tailors.

What inspires your designs? Where do you source the fabric from? How did you learn the art of designing and making ID costumes?

Why not answer the above questions and send in a picture of your latest creation?

The deadline for this is Friday 11th June.

Send your answers and pics to: lucy@irishdancing.com

Thanks!

Lucy x
