Hi All,

I’m thrilled to announce that long-term partner of IDM and head of our US branch, Denise Keane-Gillette, has acquired Irish Dance Magazine and will be taking over as editor as of now. Denise has been working with IDM for years and years and is the perfect choice to take over this role. I am so grateful for all the help she has given me over this brief time I have been editor, and wish her the best of luck.

If you have any questions or comments, Denise’s username is Denise Keane-Gillette. I know you’ll make her as welcome as you did me!

I’d like to thank all of you so much for making me feel so instantly at home on ID.com – I’ve had a wonderful time and it’s all been down to you guys!

Well well! I have been absolutely beside myself with the amount of amazing competitions we have been wrapping up of late! The standard of all the artwork has been so staggering high that we’re seriously considering renaming the magazine “Irish dancing and designing magazine!”
But all good things must come to an end – and for those who still have a hankering for competitions will be pleased to know December IDM has a super cool competitions page this month, giving you the chance to win an amazing print of one your Irish dance heroes, and also a fab book on the history of Irish dance!

It’s been a busy time at IDM Towers as we try and juggle working on the best magazine in the world with bulk-buying woolly hats and scarves and mittens for the ensuing winter!
But I HAVE got just enough time to appeal to you all for letters for our letters page! In my eyes, getting a letter from one of the IDM crew is, as, if not more fun, than a day at the zoo! Whatever the content, be it happy, ranty or straight-up bizarre, give us some backchat and get yourself in the magazine!

For those of you who haven't voted because you are torn between two dresses, or just for those who like living on the edge, the eleventh hour is nigh! There are but TWO DAYS LEFT to get your vote in, so stand up and be counted, and help get the best of the best her very own SOLO DRESS! Whoop! NOW is the window of opportunity you have if you want to be in IDM's January birthday section! Send birthdays over to tallulah@irishdancing.com, with your age, DOB and a couple of fascinating facts about your good self, and you will be instantly catapulted to stardom!

They’re up they’re up! In the Competitions section of the site, the dresses are finally LIVE, and our 25 creative finalists have finally got a chance to show everyone what amazing designs they’ve been squirreling away on!

We were flooded with entries, and the standard was really high, with the judging panel going absolutely mad with dresslust! It was an INCREDIBLY close race, and every single people who entered should feel so proud of themselves.

Now then, we’ve got to get it down to the 15 finalists! Message me with your favourite, and I will tot up the scores to see who will be in the final 15, to be decided by Doire Dress Designs! Voting closes on October 31st.

I am thrilled to announce that we have another NEW badge up for grabs: It's the 2010 Australian Nationals badge! How good is that!? Thanks to Naomi_Dancer for the inspiration, who is, incidentially the first and thusfar only user with the badge!!

This fine badge takes its inspiration from the AIDA logo (ok, it is the AIDA logo), and carries a cool 300 points for people who attended!

the brains of the operation
Working in magazines, I get so confused as to what month it is. In magazineland, November has been and gone, and we’re getting ready for our Christmas issue!? It’s so confusing.
But… you know what that means… SHOUT OUT FOR DECEMBER BIRTHDAYS!!! We’re all trying desperately to get ourselves in the festive spirit here at IDM Towers, and there’s nothing that would make Panda happier. Get your picture, along with a couple of interesting facts about yourself and your date of birth over to Tallulah@irishdancing.com.

So in other news, the design a dress competition is over, but don’t put away your pencils: the IDTANA logo competition has JUST BEGUN! Sunrise…sunset….

Can you believe it's the last design a dress day ALREADY!?! OMG!!!

Now don't get me wrong, we have had a whole darn host of amazing entries, but there's always room in the barrel for one or two more. So if you have your design lying about the house - it ain't gonna win you a free dress that way, sister!
