The Executive Board of the IDTANA that the 2011 North American Irish Dance Championships will be held in Nashville, TN at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel from July 1 - 5, 2011.
Although not an easy decision for the IDTANA Executive Board, the decision to move the Championships was made for many different reasons - including the financial consideration of our dancers and parents, the venue selection - including costs and hotel rate, and the long term financial success of the North American Irish Dance Championships which funds the IDTANA Cyril McNiff Scholarship that is awarded annually.
Although the Gaylord Opryland is currently closed due to the unprecedented flooding that occurred in Tennessee, the Resort is currently remodeling the affected areas and is planning to re-open in late Fall of this year. Gaylord Entertainment CEO Colin Reed has said he expects the resort to re-open fully this year (2010), but it is not accepting reservation dates through October. The venue should be well operational before July, 2011.
The 2011 North American Irish Dance Championships will also provide some new competitions that will be announced with the issuance of the syllabus and schedule in early Fall.
