Calling London Area Irish Dancers

Former competitive and professional Irish dancer, now Dance Science Masters student, is looking for Irish Dancers for a student research project. Dancers must be available in June-July 2012 for 1-2 hours of testing and be willing to travel to Kingston University Biomechanics Laboratory in Kingston upon Thames (KT1 1LQ), London. Dancers will be participating in a student research thesis project investigating jumping and landing mechanics of Irish dance and the potential relationship to injury. 3D motion capture and force plate technology will be used to analyse the dancer’s natural jumping mechanisms. Dancers will be asked to perform simple choreography involving skips and jumps common to all Irish dancers. Refreshments will be served after testing. Please consider donating your time and talent to contribute to the field of Dance Science for Irish dancers by Irish Dancers! If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact Erin Hayes at IrishDanceResearch@gmail.com or Erin.h11@edu.trinitylaban.ac.uk.
