TAC (Traditional Arts Collective) are celebrating the Summer Solstice, June 20th, with another Céilí in the Loft. MC Jerry O’Reilly will be teaching lively set dances from the floor and Sean-Nós dancer Mary Beth Taylor and friends will be on hand (or foot) to strut their stuff. The collective have a modern approach when it comes to the music. The traditional casio and snare drum have been done away with for the more rocking drum kit and bass guitar. A number of different special guests have performed at previous events so you never know who might drop by for a song. The ethos behind the collective is that reels and jigs are dance tunes and therefore should be danced to. The aim is to bring the Céilí back to the people! And don’t worry if you’ve never been to a Céilí before, you’ll be in safe hands, beginners are more than welcome. So come, let your hair down and dance the night away.
