TAC are celebrating the ancient festival of Lughnasadh August 1st with another feast of dance and live music in The Grand Social. MC Jerry O’Reilly will be teaching lively set dances from the floor and Sean-Nós dancer Sibeal Davitt will be on hand(or foot) to strut her stuff. The collective have a modern approach when it comes to the music. The traditional casio and snare drum have been supplemented with full drum kit and bass guitar, this makes for a rocking sound! Musicians from the group have played with bands such as Slide, Stocktans Wing, Ciorras to name a few. A number of different special guests have performed at previous events so you never know who might drop by for a song. The ethos behind the collective is that reels and jigs are dance tunes and therefore should be danced to. The aim is to bring the Céilí back to the people! And don’t worry if you’ve never been to a Céilí before, you’ll be in safe hands, beginners are more than welcome. So come, let your hair down and dance the night away!
Since their first gig in February TAC have been mentioned in The Ticket, Hotpress, Irish Dance Magazine, The Journal of Music and have featured on TG4 news, Raidio na Gealtacht, Raidio na Life and Dublin South FM. The group have been invited to play at The Spirit of Folk Festival and Phizzfest in September.
