3rd-4th November, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA
American dancers can enter a new “belt” competition taking place at the SDSC Feis, 3rd-4th November at the Sioux Falls Convention Center in South Dakota. On Friday night, Open Champ dancers will compete in a 3-round “black out” Championship in their normal feis age group. On Saturday, there will be a regular feis including the grade level dancers and PC dancers, followed by a special belt competition for top Open Champions.
The “belt” is expected to draw dancers from across the USA. To qualify dancers must have placed in the top three at an Open Championship competition during the past two years. There will be two rounds, then a 50% recall for a set dance. The panel for the belt competition will consist of 5 esteemed adjudicators from around the world. This prestigious competition will award perpetual belts as well as large cash scholarships.
The feis has partnered with Irish Dancing Magazine to post the results and photos in future issues as well as a Snapchat takeover of all the action. Age groups for the belt will be sub minor, minor, junior, and senior with cash and prizes for winners. The Belt is available to dancers who are registered under a CLRG school in the United States. Proof of age and top 3 placings will be required.
