I got mine when I was 19. Yeah I was pretty old but I didn't need one before. Plus, it felt great when I bought it with my own hard earned money! :)

Oh okay. I babysit this girl and she got one when she was 6!!!!! yeah thats right 6 and guess what yup she lost it. haha. but like what does a kid that old need a cell phone for she goes everywhere with her parents anyway!

I was 13 I think. but my parents used to share a phone but decided that they should have separate phones, so seeing as i kept complaining about my mobile (it didn't even have colour or a camera, and the buttons hardly ever pressed) they got me another one so i could give that one to them. That was last year, so I was 14. but i managed to block the sim card so i can't use it at the moment:rolleyes:

I got this phone in november and then the next phone in december and my siblings also hated that because they had their phones for like a year and i got a new one after one month lol!!

I got mine when I was ten. I was the first person in my class to get one, and everyone thought it was sooooo cool! but then, everyone else got one, but mine was still the coolest, but THEN, the RAZR and the SLVR came out and ALL my friends got either a RAZR or a SLVR, so now my phone is the least cool :( But i still love him! :p

I hardly use my phone unless I'm lonely and feel like SMSing or in an emergancy. Otherwise I might as well just have stuck with the old "post-brick" Nokia because I don't even use all the fancy settings... except the camera, lol!

like sweetpea i grew up in the age before mobile phones, in fact we did'nt have a housephone till I was 14. I know mobiles are handy for alot of reasons now but Sometimes I would love a day without listening to stupid ring tones another peoples conversations.

I Was 11 I Think Lets See I Got It Before 6th Grade Becuase I Would Be Riding A Bus And Walking Home So If I Needed To Call Some One, I Could. And So My Mom Could Call Me When I Was At My Friends Or Just Out Side Doin Stuff...lol..and Katie That Is Rigth Now That Like All These Young People Are Going Out By Them Selfs And With Friends They Need Cell Phones In Case Somthign Bad Happenes. I know a lot of you think that 9 or 10 is too young, but it is so much safer to have one!
I was in the car with the window down once with my friend, and her mom was in Harris Teeter and left us in the car, a guy cam out of the store who's car was next to ours. He stared in the window with his face practically IN the window, staring right at us, and if he didn't see me starting to dial 911 then he would have gotten us!

You said it, dancingdollsmam! It is such bad taste to have a loud converstion in a public place - I don't like having to stand in a supermarket queue listening to someone's private details, or having a meal with a friend in a restaurant and they spend all the time on their phone. We all have the phones, but we don't all have the etiquette to go with them. And I sometimes worry that kids are so wrapped up in their phones that they forget how to communicate to real people, face-to-face. Sorry everybody, rant over! :D
