I hope everything is alright! My power to you and your friend for having such a great goal! I hope you reach it! Just remember, the most important thing to lose is body fat rather than weight. Weight is decieving because muscle weighs more than fat. So don't get too caught up in the scale.
As for the doctor thing, I'm sure they just want to make sure things are ok. If you catch something early, the better you'll be.
But here's something I could use your feedback. I want to become a doctor. What are ways that I can reach out to you and not seem so scary and negative?

The thing that bothers me most about dentists ( that's sort of like doctors, I guess) is that they'll tell me how nice it is that I brush so much, and what lovely teeth I have, and then it turns out I had lots of cavaties. No matter how nervous someone seems, it there's something that needs to be fixed, they want to know what it is!
And also , I hate it when they say" this won't take long" or "this won't hurt at all" . It usually does.

Ok,
-Be honest!
-Talk to the patient, not just the parent (if its a child) and explain and make sure they understand and make sure they know what they have to do and whats going to happen
-Give sweets or a sticker at the end!
-Dont be too serious or theyll get scared!

I'm actually a 3rd year medical student (I'll be a doctor in 2010) and I really want my patients to be honest with me. Part of that is my job making them feel comfortable and explaining things well. The chances of a doctor making an "incidental finding" are very small and even if they do it is usually something that is normal and won't ever cause you any problems. Sometimes we find things we aren't looking for but that is usually because the patient doesn't recognize or admit to symptoms. Regardless, we are here to keep you happy and healthy so you can continue dancing!

I'm hoping to become a doctor in the future, and currently my uncle is a doctor. He says that the best way to connect with you patients is to put yourself in their shoes. What did you dread and what did you like when you went to the doctors and then making you more comfortable.
At the same time, what bothers one person may not bother another. It's important to talk to you doctor about what is going on. Ask him to explain a procedure that me may be doing, if you start to feel pain tell him, communication is key. If you don't speak up they'll think everything is fine. Remember, their not there to hurt you, in fact most hate hurting their patients. Also, if you have ideas or suggestions tell your doctor, maybe he can use them and they will make you feel more comfortable.
