Energy drinks dont work. For energy the best thing to do is to get hyper.

For me, I have to work to keep my energy/stamina up. I don't do energy drinks- they are super bad for your heart. Instead, I go on a treadmill, jump rope, and run 2 miles everyday. This keeps me fit and helps keep me energized during a dance.

You're absolutely right! Energy drinks are really bad: they contain a lot of suggar which helps your energy up very quickly within mere moments, but the energy doesn't last long at all! Therefore normal suggar, as in energy drinks and sweets etc, is also called a short carbohydrate.
Instead, you should--like idancer1 said--work on your stamina. Approximately an hour before you dance, eat something that IS full of energy, like anything cereal(like brown bread etc), any drinks with grape suggar(glucose). These are long carbohydrates and give your body all the energy it needs to perform well.
Hope this helps!

Coffee? xD
No, what everyone's saying is correct. Stamina is key. I'm not talking about running, jogging, or just jump rope stamina either. I mean 2 times dancing through your whole dance and trying to dance each just as well without holding back on the first shot. You have to work up to it too. Soon, when Oireachtas comes around, our whole school will start going closer to 3 times too. Our teachers have a saying that you're not REALLY pointing your toes unless you're pointing them when you're dead tired because that's the time when lessons really stick because you have to think about them so much.
Also, crunchie work outs are good because your core needs to be able to sustain such a beating.... and strength in your legs will help make the moves easier so you won't be spending as much energy.

For stamina I think its just good to do other activities outside of dance like running or swimming because it works other muscles as well as your dance muscles. You should also make sure to work really hard at every class and be dancing even when its not necessarily tyour turn. Just go into a corner and work on your own. Thats what I do and I usually dance better becaus I didn't let my muscles get cold. Cold muscles are the dsancer downfall!!! So keep your muscles warm and work hard! Hope I helped :)

I'm not saying she has a bad eating habit, because I don't know her at all of course!! I was just trying to explain that the majority of people think that energy and stamina only come when you exercise enough. Of course you get stamina from running and swimming, but your food is as important as working out. If you work out and only eat unhealthy things, you'll notice that your stamina won't go up either. So if you really want to improve your energy you should work out AND cut back all the unhealthy food from your "diet".

Just echoing everyone, jumping rope, swimming, jogging--these are all very good ways to get good stamina. Also, doing dance drills, i.e. flutters, jumps, flick-flicks, double pumps, etc. help. What we also do in dance class is do 4 steps, our 2 steps twice, or our 3 or 2 1/2 steps once, and then the first step again.
And on the day of a feis, make sure you get good sleep, and when you get to the feis, make sure you stretch, and get totally warmed up (but not tired) so you dance your best. And MAKE SURE to eat something while you're at the feis, don't make the mistake that I do at every feis and not eat anything because of nerves. You will dance with A LOT more energy if you are all fueled up.
Hope this helps!

swimming is very good for stamina
that's a great idea! Also, would practicing your steps underwater help? The resistense in the water could help? Or could that injur a dancer?
(sorry for misspellings... It's a little late in the night...)
I am going to try the jump rope and running idea!
