I don't have the money to buy one now I have been thinking about sewing myself.

Mhh.... I don't know if this is the right name for it.
I try to explain....

But it is a very big paper (drawing) where you have the dress on it. You have to put your fabrics on it and cover the cut over. Then you can start cutting the fabrics into the pieces and start sewing the dress. Maybe there is an other name for this drawing.

Sorry my english is not the best. And I don't find the exact words for very special things.

I'm sewing my first dress, well my sister is, and my teacher is helping. I'm sure there are websites that have patterns for making a dress. I just know it's pretty fiddly - so much cutting out and layers, lots of stiffening and material to be stabilised....it's very time consuming! I dont know for the design - that's up to you. I'm not creative enough to come up with one for myself!

It's called a pattern. I'm not an adult but I'm making a costume for a male dancer, then hopefully start making a dress myself. I'm going to be asking a local dress maker if I could by a pattern of her. I've searched for web pages and stuff but had no luck. I think maybe your best bet is to find a dressmaker and ask them for their advice. They may give you someone to contact or something. If not they may even give you a pattern to work from. You will probably have to pay for that though.

Hope I helped

Try this website.
My three daughters are all dancing now and their grandmother is going to tackle their dresses so we are researching the web - good luck!
