Exclamation Heavy dresses!!

This my seem quite a stupid complaint but it is annoying me nonetheless so i need advice!

I Know (in an comhdhail anyways but that could be changed because thay just seem to be changing rules for the craic lately ) that new dresses cant have panel style skirts so basically all the older style dresses are out. Anyways their just phasing them out so it doesnt apply to the older dancers really so i managed to get a 2nd hand class dress but it's longer then my old one and the panels are really wrecking my head!! I just feel i cant lift my legs right in it or high enough or even do a proper hop! I need urgent help because i have feis next weekend and have already missed so much class and practise time over the past 2 weeks because i was sick!! how do i get over this so i can dance right again?

Thanks!!

I'm not quite sure what you mean. It's too heavy to dance in, is that what you're saying? I think you'll just need to practice in it a lot - there's nothing else I can suggest, really.

To help you dance better in the dress, wear your dress for practicing at home for a little while. Eventually you will be able to lift your legs like you do in dance class. Other than that, there isn't much to do for that. Good luck for your feis!

well what u can do is put your dress on then do kicks in it and some steps because that always happens to me every time i get a new dress. if that dosnt work then u can just practice like u would normally do intill u get used to it.

Of course it is! You just need to be used to dancing in that dress I noticed an amazing amount of difference when I went from a 3-panel to a lighter dress.
