Default not having facebook

i'm 18 and still my mom won't let me have one. i feel left out because EVERYONE has it and every commercial or ad i see says 'Like us on Facebook' or something like that. lately i've gotten over not having one but i still wish i could have one just to go on occasionally, and i try to tell my mom that you can put your own privacy controls and everything, my friends even try to get me to secretly create one but i said no. so yeah i'm really just ranting i don't care too much anymore. i just wish it wasn't such a big deal. i can't believe they even made a MOVIE out of it! honestly i think facebook is overrated. maybe i'm just saying that but idk anyway yeah that's how i feel.

I have one and you're really not missing out on alot. There's so much drama that gets thrown around and it really can hurt people. Trust me, I was crying last night because of something mean a girl wrote. It really upset me. So don't think there's anything wrong with not having one

if you're 18 then you're legally an adult and your actions online are none of your mom's business

I think I got Facebook when I was 15. It wasn't as popular as it is now.
I made a Facebook cause I'm in the military and move around a lot. I like to keep in contact with my friends that I had to leave in moves.
But I really don't go on it as much as I use too.

But I understand, Facebook has became the way to commuicate and socialize. Everything you see is Facebook related! I think a lot of people are addicted, or what we like to call Facebook stalkers. I actually had friends deactivate their facebook cause they where on it so much.

My parents didn't let me have facebook until I was 18. Now I have facebook and I really like it, but I know a lot of people who don't have a profile. So you don't need to feel like you're the only one who doesn't have it. And by the way, that movie that they made about it actually made a lot of people delete their pages, because it showed the guy who started facebook as being a very selfish person.

Good for you for not going being your mother's back. I hope that because you're being responsible, she changes her mind and lets you get facebook. But I don't think you need to feel bad because you don't have it now.

My mom has a unbreakable no-Facebook policy. And frankly, I have no interest in breaking it!

Facebook honestly doesn't do all that much good. I mean, it can be a rallying point and help you stay in touch with friends and everything, but there are safer ways to do that. And just look at all the cyberbullying that can result!

I guess it depends on the person. I'm only friends with close people and family. I never have to deal with cyperbullying or anything unsettling. But some of my friends have hundreds of friends on Facbook (one even has over a thousand). I don't go around asking people who I hardly know to be my friend. It's just stupid to do so. It's all about how many friends you have.

You just have to be responsible when your on it. People can be reckless and immature. That's why kids shouldn't be on, it's not totally safe.
I have everything locked from people who aren't my friend so they can't see anything. But sometimes I get asked by totally random people with no friends in common, and I'm like how do you find me!?! (cause I don't have a common name)

Oh, and you know what's totally weird? My Ex from CO and a guy from a church I used to go in IL are friends on Facebook AND they don't even know each other!!
