I'm doing an Irish dancing piece and I want to do it to music other than Irish (i.e. pop, jazz, classical, etc). The music can't be more than 2 minutes or it has to be an easy enough tune to cut down to 2 minutes. Any suggestions? I don't want to say what this routine is for yet as I want to keep it a surprise for the moment
I will reveal all in a couple of weeks......One idea I'm thinking of is doing a ballet inspired Irish dance routine to the classical piece Farandole by Bizet. Another idea is to dance to the Mint Royale remix of Singing in the Rain, or do a routine to Got to Dance from the film (although a lot shorter). I'm also considering a couple of Florence and the Machine songs. Any ideas? I don't hate Irish music; I actually love it. It's just that I want to kind of do a twist on Irish dancing, like the two Irish dancing acts on Britain's Got Talent this year or some of the acts on An Jig Gig. I want to show people that Irish dancing can be done to all types of music. Last edited by xxDance1996xx : 08-05-2011 at 11:25 PM. Reason: Grammar mistake |

Well, classical music sounds cool.
I'm actually not a fan of most non-Irish music, but if you want a modern-sounding Irish piece, you could try Hugo's Big Reel by Solas. It's really cool, and has some jazz and bluegrass influences (according to someone else - I wouldn't know either even if they whacked me over the head!) so it might fit the bill. ![]() Sorry I can't help further. |

I'll look it up and see if it's ok to shorten. |

The soundtrack to Celtic Tiger has lots of very non-Irish-sounding music on it. Here are some that I found on youtube:
http://.youtube.com/watch?v=tbozC9G4u7c (on the soundtrack, it doesn't have that part in the middle without music) http://.youtube.com/watch?v=om5g_...eature=related http://.youtube.com/watch?v=1fSIG...eature=related |
