Okay, I think we should just let the old one die peacefully since no one seems to know where the bejeebus we are anymore!
Copy-pasta'd from the old thread: Setting: The International Academy of Irish Arts (IAIA) is an boarding school for Irish dancers and musicians. It goes from the equivalent of middle school to college. At the IAIA, the primary instructional focus is dance and music, with academics being an important but lesser component. A student can choose whether they want to primarily study dance or music, but always has the option of taking classes in the other discipline. All teachers are either registered TCRGs (in the case of dance) of accredited by Comhaltas (in the case of music). Student are highly encouraged to compete, and in fact, the school hosts four feiseanna and two fleadheanna each year. The IAIA has four locations: the main school in Dublin City (with about 200 students), the school in County Donegal (with about 100 students), the school in County Galway (with about 125 students), and the school in County Meath (with about 75 students). Most of the students switch into the IAIA after completing elementary school (or the equivalent), at about age ten to twelve. When they arrive at the school (applications are open, meaning that anyone is accepted as long as they have one year or more of dance or music experience) they are assessed and placed into the proper level of classes. About one third of the students at the school study music, the rest are dancers. The IAIA has the second-most amount of solo World titles of any school in the world, beat only by the Turley Academy. ~~~ About the Dublin Location Located on the outskirts of the city, the largest school location also has the largest amount of international students. Situated in what was once a huge manor and its outbuildings, the campus looks like a cross between a palace and a posh prep school, but it's so much more than that. There are seven dormitories on the campus, for the students in advanced beginner through prelim (dance) and the first of two levels (music). One dorm is for the musicians, while the rest are for the dancers, and are split by level (except for one dorm dedicated to boys and men of both disciplines). The advanced musicians and the Open Championship dancers sleep in rooms in the main manor, a privilege they make much of, often gloating about having two to a room instead of often twenty or more in the dorms. Academics are in the afternoon for three days a week, while the mornings and the remaining afternoons are dedicated to dance and music. While the academics go by age, the arts don't, going by level instead. ~ DUBLIN TEACHERS AND STAFF Championship Teachers: Michael, Tara, and Catherine Novice/PW Teachers: Alannah, Mary, and Ciara AB Teachers: Maeve and Selene Level One Music Teachers: Ronan, Niamh, Lisa, Katie, and Zoe Level Two Music Teachers: Patrick, Athena, Eileen, and Loreena Overall Headmistress: Mairead Spillane Dublin Headmistress: Siobhan ni Mhaolchatha Office Secretary: Ms. Brennan Cooks: Alyssia and Sera ~ Dorms Avoca River Dorm: Advanced Beginners Brigit's Dorm: Novices Black Pool Dorm: Prizewinners Stepping High: Prelim Champs House of Melody: Level One Musicians Cuchulain's Dorm: Men and Boys ~~~ To join the roleplay, fill out this form: Name: Age (if starting as a first year student, must be between ten and twelve): Appearance: Dance or Music: Level (must be at least AB or the equivalent): Country of Origin: Personality: History: You may have up to three characters in the Dublin location.
