I want to get fit and healthy and I thought the best way to do it would be through dancing because i enjoy it more than other sports so does anyone know any exercises that help keep you fit that can also be used to help your dancing?? x

This is a tough one....But I would say practicing your steps in the pool. There is less stress on your joints and the force of the water strangthens your legs.

If you want to increase your stamina, you can run through your dances more than once
Like for example... you do your hornpipe steps (the 2 or 2 and a half), then you wait 8 bars and redo it again ![]() You can also do drills, just to increase your legs strength and also get better at the things you don't master yet!!! |

Wow! What amazing dedication! Weight lifting is good for strengthening for ceili dances, and pilates is very good.

At dance we do 4 skip 2-3s forward, 4 back, cut then sevens to the right, back 2-3, sevens to the left, cut, sevens to the left again, back 2-3, sevens to right, repeat. For a long time. It sucks to do it for a long time but it builds stamina, and you can focus on improving turn out and being on your toes while doing it.
