Irish Dance is a great dance style to get into!
Wether you are flexible or not your flexibility that some don't think they have will gradually come out and when not dancing stretching at home will help with the flexibility as well!
It might add more time on what you already do, but maybe the School that you choose will have Classes on the other days you have your other hobbies.
And YOU are not too OLD!
I started at 12 and I didn't start getting into loads only a mere two years ago.
Now I am almost in Championship Level!
Irish Dance might be kind of hard to some at first but it is just getting the basics inside your head.
Your feet always have to turn out, up on your toes, crossed over, etc.
I wish you the best of luck on finding a Dance School and you will never look back when joining Irish dance!

i
I think that if youwant to you should evan go on a summer class or something

Thank you guys so much!! I really hope I can do Irish dance, my mom is the problem because she thinks it is 1) all about frilly dresses & makeup( she hates that type of thing) even though I know those are only for solos 2) it's 'just a phase' and in two months I'll be tired of it and 3)she doesn't want to drive at night in the winter >.<

I think it is mainly 1 and 2 though. Any ideas of how to convince her? I KNOW this is not a phase, I have been looking into it for 4 months now and researching everything about it. :P

Maybe for number one, you could convice your mom that you don't have to have frilly dress and wear make-up for Irish dance! You could get a school dress, and you don't HAVE to wear make-up! If you want to, though, you could tell her that almost EVERY girl wears make-up and has those dresses! Maybe you could join a team, and teams almost always wear school dresses and limited make-up.

For number two, you could convince her that it is not just a phase, and that you will really dedicate your time to dance. Tell her you've been researching about dance, and that you're very interested in the culture and style of Irish dance!

I hope you get the chance to join Irish dance! It's a great sport and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Hope I helped!

It takes alot of time if you want to do it competively, but not alot if you just do it for fun

14 isn't to old to start, but you will have to work harder than the ones who started before you!

It is quite hard but with practice it is possible!

Prons: friendship, dressing up!, fitness, exploring different places (going to worldwide feises!)

cons: time taking, effert, dissapointment, injuries
