Red face Help please :)

Hi everyone,

Please help. My left knee hurts... never had this problem before. As soon as it starts hurting I stop and it's fine. However, when I practice the next day, it starts hurting again

What am I doing wrong? Never had this problem before. Am I just to old for this now? Or is it because I've got knocked knees?

Thanks. Love Irish Dancing.

Hope you're all having a fabulous day.

Hi!

Hum well first it depends on WHERE it actually hurts on your knee, since it could really be different things. Did you fall? Dis you had a shock on your knee or the pain just came in randomly at one moment?
I'd say ice it quite often in the next few days, and maybe it if doesn't go away go to a physical therapist, they might know what to do with this

Hope I helped!

Thanks for your reply. No didn't fall. Just started feeling it... for example, when I land after jumping... like it's a pressure point thing. Will take a break from practicing tonight, but will ask my teacher tomorrow night at class.

BTW... read on your profile that you're going up into prelims... have fun! .

as i tell everyone, see your primary doctor first... s/he can then figure out what the next best step is and whom to refer you to if you need specialized help

Having injuries happens to dancers of all ages, and it doesn't necessarily mean you're doing anything wrong. If the pain doesn't go away on it's own you should probably go to a doctor, but I'd suggest you take several days off of dance first.

have to tried the good old RICE routine? I get sore knees sometimes in cold weather. I'd say rest up and use some ice. If it doesnt ease up see your physio/doctor

RICE is good. I find icing to help most injuries. I also have a knee support. I got it at a pharmacy/drug store. I find it allows me to dance on smaller, less painful injuries. Resting is probably best for now and, if the pain doesn't go away, go to the doctor.

Well depending on age when I went through a growth spurt I had that problem and all you can really do is ice. Or when you turn out you may not realize you aren't turning out all the way from your hips and may just be turning out from the knees which could be the cause. Hope this helps!
