Well, you're supposed to only move up if you get 1,2, or 3, but if your teacher says it's okay you can move up if you want to

Assuming the three dances you mentioned were B2/AB, and your teacher counts first, second, third for novice qualification, the dance you placed third in would go up to novice.
If your teacher doesn't count third for advancement, I don't think you can move up. Or, if your teacher feels you are a novice level dancer and isn't insistent on having the reccomended placements, s/he can move you up whenever s/he feels like. |

ya. that's true! generally, if you place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a group of 5 or more ppl, you move up! This changes when you get to the higher ranks! To get out of novice, you must place 1st out of 5 or more ppl! Once you get to Opens, it's pretty much a done deal. In Opens, you are at the highest you can go, pretty much! (competition wise) I myself am trying to get out of novice. I have 2 dances currently in novice (as of today!) and I am trying to move to PW. This is very difficult, most of the time. Some dancers, however, just cruise on up and up and up. Getting first place out of usually 7 or 8 ppl, even more, isn't the easiest thing. Some ppl stay in novice for years on end, not to scare you or anything! Like i said, I'm in novice, too! But, the majority of my dances aren't even in novice yet. This may not be a problem with you! You might be a dancer who just cruises on through the levels! Just make sure that you have fun doing it. Fun is the key ingredient to a successful career! You can quote me if you wish! REMEMBER: JUST HAVE FUN!!!! |
