Wow, that's wonderful!!! I wish there were that many adult dancers everywhere. And you're so right about those moms, Ynna. Didn't achieve anything themselves, now they grab their children's success for themselves. And then to be mean to an adult brave enough to compete! Unforgiveable.

That's totally not right what that parent said. It's not against the rules or anything. the feis has the right to mix age groups if needed (or so I've read)

I was speaking to my dance teacher about this, i have been back dancing now for 17 months after a 10 year break!!!
I compete in the adult Ceili and love it (we just won GB again). But i have also started a solo class for a bit of extra exercise! The thing is i really love it and am now considering doing solo's again BUT i do not want to compete against the youngsters, as i personally would feel a plonker!!
So i suggested to my teacher that we have a Veterans catagory for those who are 25 and over or ex dancers that fancy competing again. What do you think?? Do you think there is a big enough market for us Adults???

Here in South Africa it's not really the in-thing for anyone over 30 or so to compete in solos, but it's very acceptable to compete in ceili. And we do! My team's won gold two years in a row at the SA Champs. Now, if only we could convince more men to join... Maybe if we bribe them with a tot of something? Not only would they be more willing - they'd probably dance better too!
