well, i think that the basis of a good dancer is good technique. you need to make sure you have lovely turn-out, crossed feet, stiff arms, shoulders back, and your chin up! and for you to have good technique, then you need to have strength in your stomach, bum, and leg muscles!

and along with technique, dancing high up on your toes is a must and make sure your feet/toes are always pointed nicely the moment they leave the floor! and finally, SMILE! a confident dancer is always better than one without.

is there something specific you need help with? if you need just ask and i'll reply!

Soft shoe:
work on the basics, pointed toes , up on your toes, posture, and the regular. then make your steps very sharp.

Hard shoe:
Everything above and many judges really listen to timing so even when their writing they can tell how good your doing!

hope that helped!

Great technique and timing is the cake. The smiles and looking confident is the frosting. Not many people have the frosting part and that will make you stand out.

I find now that I have started to turn out my feet that it has improved my placing quite a bit. For hard shoes I think it's important to have good rythm and having good & loud sound.
