Ok, so I'm going to a feis in about 3 weeks. I need help from you guys to help get me prepared!!! Maybe you could tell me some of the stuff you guys do on the way to a feis. PLUS, I'm always a nervous wreck the night before. I end up staying up till about 2 because I'm so nervous! HELP!!!

Wink Here are some various things that help me...

I don't usually do anything extra to get ready- I practise every day anyway, but my teachers will work on things a little differently in class right before a feis.
I used to get really nervous, but I don't seem to any more. I just try to remember to do my best, but not to sweat the other stuff. If I don't place, then it just means someone else was more what the judge was looking for that day.
I do take my special teddy bear that my mom got me once when we got to a feis and I got sick and couldn't dance. He's a little Irish bear, and so he comes to every feis and I sleep with him and hold him while my mom does my wig, because that usually is the hardest part for me. I don't do well with my hair being messed with.
One thing that I do is think of the worse that might happen- if I don't place, the world won't end, the sky won't fall, my mom and dad will still love me, my teachers will say, don't worry, it'll come, and no one will laugh at me. So it's just not that big a deal.
Just get up there and dance like you're at home, or in class and don't let it scare you or make you upset.
But the hardest thing is getting sleep, and you have to make sure you're rested. My mom will lay down with me and we talk and she talks for my bear and it calms me down and makes me sleepy (yeah, I know it's babyish, but it's still fun and relaxing).
And eat a good breakfast with protien.

well i don't feis, but i have performed in front of a huge crowd b4 and i was really nervous. the most important thing i think, that i do b4 performing, is focus. i have to focus on what i'm doing, and i just tell myself "okay, there's no turning back, you can do this, you WILL do this, because you CAN'T mess up, this is what you've trained for!" and it always seems to work. just encourage yoruself. u know u can dance and u know u can win, so GO FOR IT. but of course, don't EVER be afraid to mess up, b/c like reeeljiggy said, it's NOT the end of the world, and there will ALWAYS be another feis.
SO GO GET 'EM!! lol hope i helped sum!

and another thing, walk, walk, walk.. or run for as long as u can before competitions or performances. it will reli help build endurance!! i have a treamill, so i always walk at the highest incline for at least 30 minutes a day and it helps improve my stamina. i also jump rope too, for endurance! and drink plenty of water and eat lots of carbs like pasta and potatoes!
