Make sure that your shoes are really broken in, and then just practice it at home.

Going up on Pointe is all in the ankles. You have to have strong ankles.

What my ballet teacher made me do and my Irish teacher. Was walk around with light ankle weights on or if I’m sitting down watching TV I would move my legs up and down gently (not too high) with ankle weights on.

This builds up strength and makes it easier to go on Pointe for any type of dance. :-) Hope this helps.

Good luck xx

I find that this takes a good bit of practise!I learned a step last year with a long toe stand and I found it helped when I did it against the wall first with my hands keeping my balance against the wall!then gradually start to leave your hands go for short amounts of time and it helps to make your muscles and ankles stronger at it!I hope this helps you!

Walk around the house on your toes in your hardshoes!!!

This helps an awful lot trust me when it first came into dancing I would walk around my house all day on my toes to break in my shoes!!!
The more flexible they are the easier it is!!!

I was able to do jumps on 'pointe' and go around in circles!!! Practice makes perfect!!!

Pity we aren't allowed do this in CRN

make sure that you have really good posture. If you don't it is really hard to stay balanced on the center of your toepiece like you need to be and you will wobble around. You want to feel really sturdy on your toes because it puts your feet in a really vulnerable position for hurting yourself if you're not careful.
