I think soft skirts look really good on older dancers.

You have such pretty blond hair like I do, that you'd look good in anything but the exact color of your hair! blue would be good on u i think, but really anything.

what do u think is the best dress for an adult?

Hi Ynna!
I'd agree with the other posters you have the looks & figure to wear whatever style you like, lucky thing! Me - I'm not overly fond of the wrap skirts (a personal preference) - I think they make you look hippy (ie: make your hips look big). This is just my opinion - but I like the soft skirts (sometimes referred to as ra-ra skirts or ruffle skirts) - see shamrock stitichery's gallery design no # 59 or check out .feisanne.blogspot.com - see entry Rhi's 2008 dress. The petticoat used for Rhi's dress comes from a German company called Setrino (.petticoatshop.com) - they're based in Berlin, but you can order over the Internet too. At the end of the day, your solo dress should be whatever YOU want - wear what makes you happiest.

An adult needs to be careful they are wearing the same think all dancers are, at least when they reach Championship levels. The judges are known to think an adult dancer does not take the competition very seriously if they aren't wearing the 'full costume".

A loose skirt is probably not wise for an adult dancer since that is not the current fashion. Also I wouldn't recommend tights (I see adults do that a lot) while all the other dancers are wearing poodles.

Even if you think one looks better than another, for a feis you need all the help you can get to impress a judge.

Hello, I recently made a custom dess for a 37 year old friend of mine. I showed her lots of different options and we sat down and designed it. I felt that for a more advanced irish dancer she should move away from things like fully covered necklines, and stiff panels. So we chose to go with panels made from stretch velvet in a hunter green with high slits revealing sheer sparkle organza of the same hue. I suggested a sweetheart neckline since she wasn't a 12 yr old and detachable sleeves of sheer chiffon. I also made the stomach area more fitted again because she was not a child and it would amp up the look more. She added her own small handsewn patches to give it a slight traditional feel. So i think these elements and others such as multi-layered chiffon or organza would be nice for an adult. I got most of my ideas to show her by just looking on-line at different irish dance companies and googling adult irish dance pics. If you are wearing this for competition you obviously may not want to do a neckline quite like my friend's choice...

Here is a gallery to pictures of her dress, maybe it will give you ideas:
