Im just writing to tell you my story...During my years dancing I have many injuries due to fallen arches...that was ok but now i have consistant pains...I went to the hospital and was diagnosed wit Beign Hypermobility Sydrome (bhs)...there are many people with this but mine is severe...It is also known as being too flexible it hurts....it could be used for gymnastics but as mine is sever im not able to do any sports...This has affected my life TOTALLY...I have to use a laptop in school for my hands as it effects everywhere in your body,I also have to do state exams on my laptop and miss much school for physio and ot.Many of my friends say oh thats cool you miss school but they do not see my life.I never get a full night sleep due to the bone slipping out of place in my ankle and causing me pain.I had to give up dancing altogether now and miss out on trips.I have had to give up alot of my life for bhs. Also a problem I encure is people thinking im fine.Because you cant see anything wrong with me people dont seem to realise how much pain I am actually in.They think its lke a cold that will go away. The thing that annoys me most is my "friends in dancing". Because I no longer attend class I am forgotten.Recently there was a birthday party and i was not invited. This hurt me so much I cried for days. This broke my mams heart as no one had even thought of getting me a card just to say get well soon or thinking of you.It would of been nice because although I am not in hospital(yet)they should at least text me once in a while and tell me how everything is going.I do text them but very very rarely get a text back.I am devastated that I am losing friends over a problem that is not my fault.I just wanted people to know so I never have to explain.I am not demanding gifts but just wanted to express my upsetness at my "friends" for forgetting about me.At first I thought oh give it time...but im still waiting for that phone call.....Xxxxxx

wow. i had no idea about BHS. I'm soo sorry! And about your friends-Sometimes when people are going through tough times, their friends just don't know what to say or do. Give it time and remember you'll ALWAYS have your idm family behind you!
You're in my prayers and I hope you're feeling better soon! |

People get so caught up with their own lives that we often forget to think about others. Busy-ness has become a real problem! Did you ever tell your friends the reason you weren't at dancing anymore, or did you hope they'd find out for themselves? I really hope you get better soon, and that your friends make an effort to support you in this. You really need them now, and they've probably missed you and wondered what's become of you! Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear about that. it must be devastating. I get injured a lot, in fact I'm out of dance right now with an injury, but i always have the knowledge that I will be back, I honestly don't know what I'd do if I didn't have that. It must be so hard.
Just know we are your friends on here, and maybe it will help just to strike up friendships on here. It's very rare that most of us meet, so this can be a very normal IDM friendship where it's all done on line! We're all here for you, just reach out and grab hold of someone! I know that it hurts when your friends don't keep up with you, I've had that a lot too. I have learned that peple don't mean to be unkind or forget about you, but they just get wrapped up with day to day life and forget to reach out. Sometimes you have to just call them and say, here I am talk to me. I know I'd rather people would call and say how are you, but I've accepted that it's not usually going to happen, and so I just do it myself. They're always glad I called and invited them somewhere or just wanted to talk, but for whatever reason, they just can't make that first step. I think people should be given lessons sometimes in how to be a friend. sigh. Anyway, best wishes to you and I hope your situation really will get better. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}} PS Write to me any time- I'll be glad to be your friend and try to cheer you up!

You know what, the same thing happen to me. (Not the bhs, the losing your danicng friends part.) Recently my dancing teacher moved the location of my dance class from hollywood, fl to Boca-Raton, Fl. That's about a 45 mintue drive differnece. My mom just couldn't do it. So iwas forced to leave the school and move to a new one. My friends said that they would keep in touch, but of course they never did. In fact I havn't heard from them in almost three months.
I know it's hard, but try texting them or calling them again. (I know somethime I get so busy I don't have time to respond to every text i get.) If they don't respond then I would say move on. I know it's hard but clearly they are not your friends because a friend would never forget or ignore another friend. It's hard to let go of friends but you now what, it's there loss, not yours. ![]() |
