I've been told to dance towards the end because that way the judges remember you the longest. Also, I prefer last because sometimes I get to dance solo. But it's a drag when you're last in a special with 50 or more dancers in it lol!

i never thought about the whole 'if you're last the judge remembers you' thing, but it does actually make sense.
i dont mind dancing first but i usually end up dancing in the middle. i think it is soooooooo annoying when all the dancers are just waiting till' everyone else goes up so they can be last but everyone does that, so there is hardly anyone is standing to dance at the side so then you decide to go up and then there is tonnes of dancers that come up like after. if that makes sense. ![]() |

well i personally beleive that it is a simple cas of the primacy/recency effect, which means that the the judges will remember the first few and the lat few dancers more, its not thier fault its a natural psychological process.
having said that, judges mark each dancer while he/she dances so it doesn't matter who they remember as the dancer has already been marked jono |

I don't think I do as well if I'm in the second half of a large competition, because standing still in line is really hard! But at my last feis, I was late because I had troubles changing into my dress, so I had to go last, and I won 2nd.

I go in the middle or last because I never do any good when I go first.

I was talking to someone whose mother judges music competitions and she said that though they mark everyone after they perform, she does remember the last few the best! And she said that say she gave a person at the beginning a really good mark, she still wouldn't be able to say that that person was as good as a person that got the same mark later on...if that makes any sense!
