Default two way pressure.

why is it that there are those girls who are in traditional outfits BASHING the girls who have sparkles. and the girls who are in sparkly dresses BASHING the girls who prefer a more traditional look?
some of us like feathers and some of us like lace and some of us like a simple skirt and blouse. so why should there be so much pressure both ways, instead of just wearing what we want.
i understand not all of us like the same thing and that feises are not about looks but some of us like to look a certain way and others the opposite.
as long as our "ensemble" (haha) abides by the rules then we should all be accepting of WHATEVER someone else wants to wear.
who is with me?
haha sorry for the outburst.

Yes, I agree! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and they should except other people for their opinions too!

I agree with you. If you got something negative to say then keep it to yourself. I like all the differences in styles and how we can have the courage to be bold. I love how we can choose what we want to wear to express ourselves.

Hear-hear!!! It's the one thing that makes me sad in Irish Dancing - the beauty pageant mentality that causes so much hurtfulness, where girls insult anyone who looks different from them. Let's all live and let live. Celebrate our differences.

for a while i felt like it was worse "prejudice" i guess from the girls with traditional taste but then i went to a feis last month and there was a girl in a "fluffy prancy" dress being really MEAN to a friend about a dress she was looking at buying which was more traditional. so now i realize it goes both ways and it needs to stop.
everyone should wear what they want and be happy that they have their own style. i dont feel like its right for girls to feel like they HAVE to wear wigs. natural hair seems to be coming in style...soo maybe ill try it haha.
i just feel like all of us irish dancers are beautiful and our appearance should be a reflection of OUR taste and OUR likes and no one elses.

I'm sorry if anyone thinks I've said nasty things about dresses I don't like. Even though I don't like some styles of dresses, I totally agree that everyone has a right to wear the style they like best.
