School is starting up again, and that means new clothes! Which means the dreaded "jeans shopping". I can never find the right fit, length, etc. It takes forever to find the right pair! Anybody else have this problem?

yes, somtimes i do and that's always going to be one of the hard parts of being a girl. shopping for denim is a not only a sport, but an art and it will always require a professional's help. ask the store's employee because they will understand the sizing of the jeans in that particular store. but if you don't want to bother with that just grab one of each and head to the dressing rooms!

It's easier to wear a uniform, like we do here in South Africa! No thinking what to wear in the morning, no fashion competitions, no looking for jeans that fit. But our kids would give anything to wear civvies like you do!

Finding the right jeans can be a pain in the bum (no pun intended). I'm sure you'll find something. Maybe talk to one of the sales reps. to help you out.

For myself, I have had a terrible time finding jeans that were tall enough and that weren't to big everywhere else (I don't have a ton of hip). I shop for jeans at GAP - the "Long and Lean" style is my favorite.
It can depend on what body type (i.e. hips vs. not a lot of hip) you have for what brand will fit you best. When looking for the right size, find a pair that fits you in the hip and buy them a little too long rather than a little too short - if they're not the perfect length already. You can have the waist and leg length tailored if necessary. Since I am between GAP's leg length sizes (the regulars are too short and the longs are too long), I buy the longs and take them to a tailor and have them shortened for $10-$20 dollars a pair. Unfortunately, great jeans aren't usually cheap, so I didn't really invest in great jeans until I stopped growing. Although shopping for jeans can feel like hunting down a panther, the good news is; you don't need a million pairs. Which is good news for your wallet as well. I have the same problem. I love to wear jeans but I always have trouble finding the right size. Either they're too big or small, too long or short, too tight or baggy. I can never find a "happy medium" as my mom would say lol.

hah! I've had a uniform for my last 12 years at school, so now that i'm in sixth form the idea of trying to find clothes to wear to school terrifies me! lol
especially seeing as we have restrictions on the sort of clothes we're allowed to wear............i hate finding the right pair of jeans, i'm too short for most adult pairs but too tall to wear kid's jeans. oh the annoyance lol. |
