Unhappy Varrying scores.....

At my past few feises, I have placed 3rd and 4th in my prelims. This has been a huge leap for me. But when I buy my detailed result report things, one of the judges has placed me very far down!!! For example, this past weekend, judge A placed me 7th, judge B placed me 1st, and judge C placed my 10th!!! There were 14 competitors. I just want to know, how can the scores be so varried if they are all watching me do the same dance technically (i mean not based on style, i mean like lift, crossing, posture....), and how can I get those judges to place me higher so that in the end I place higher over all?

Really, it's all just based on what the judge is looking for that day. You never really know. My only advice is make sure you always execute everything 100%, and make sure all the basics are perfect-that's usually what they look for in a prelim dancer!

This is going to be about the least helpful reply ever, but there are only two things you can do:

1.) Practice harder and correct lapses in timing and technique so that you are obviously the better dancer and the judges would suffer an attack of conscience if they didn't place you highly,

and

2.)Just accept that some judges aren't going to think you're the better dancer no matter how hard you practice. I know judges like that are really frustrating, but they're part of Irish dance.
