Are your legs crossed very well?If not, cross them and it will be harder to bend legs at all!

I've got sort of the same problem, but I think it's because when I bend my knees I feel like I'm turning out more. I think it's the kind of thing that practice is the best way to get better.

When I do brushes forward I also bent my knees. My teacher said I have to straight my leg completely and go up and down against the floor. I hope it helps with you too. It helped with me.

Don't worry, I feel your pain! For about a year and a half I couldn't get my knees straight. Then I found out there are simple excersizes that you can do to help straighten your knees. I did these about twice a day, and before I knew it I was out of prelim!
