Hi!
Well, to improve your rocks you could takea chair or something to hold on and just get up on toes and do your rocks slowly. Take the time to feel how you keep your feet together and how you roll over your ankles. Accelerate the movement and put less and less weight on your holding bar (or chair!!). Hope this helps!!! It helped a lot for me!! ![]() Sarah |

Keep your ankles and knees locked together, that is the hardest part of the rocks for me. In my bedroom, I do my rocks in front of the mirror. If I'm wearing shorts, I can tell if my knees are together, because if they're not I can see the light from the window between my knees.

stretch with completely straight knees and stretch everything you're going to be using when you dance.

Just practice them slowly while flat footed until you get used to the motion. Then do them on your toes while holding on to a chair or barre or whatever.

There are a million ways to stretch, but I think that doing whatever you do in dance class after you practice at home is a good way to go. The only problem is that you have to remeber to do it.
Rocks are a little tricky to get, but you just have to practice doind them. When I first learned them I used a chair to support myself and then I just did them over and over and over and over again. If you just can't do them then ask your dance teacher if you can change it to something else. |
