Angry More Irish stuff please!

I've noticed in IDM that there isn't much about Ireland or Irish people featured. I don't mean to be rude, but America gets half the magazine to themselves and I just want to say : Ireland puts the Irish in Irish Dancing, so please appreciate Ireland more.

I think that's a valid request. The USA have their own ID magazines that feature everything American so perhaps IDM could have more Irish content? I personally love it when we have articles about towns in Ireland where big events are held, and interesting bits about the Irish culture. Long ago IDM taught us a few Irish words and phrases - I would LOVE that again! Then, when we meet up with IDM friends at big events around the world we can say things like "Dia duit! Conas ta tu?"
(Are you impressed? Not bad for a South African, eh? )

There are A LOT of Irish dancers in America so that is why they have the biggest portion of the magazine. I feel the magazine is fine the way it is!

I believe that the countries in the Magazine, should get an equal amount in it. You have a very good point there, Ireland DOES put the Irish in Irish Dancing. And, it's not that we don't appreciate Ireland, and I think IDM TRIES to meet everyone's needs.
We also need to be understanding that they're trying.
I hope this helps!!

I think the american magazine is called Feis America. I honestly prefer IDM. I'm also glad that America has a section in the magazine. I love reading about Irish towns and events but I also want to hear about what's happening around the world and even some events that I could get to once and awhile.

well the IDM writers/editors need to analyze their audience. if the USA (where im from) has the majority of the readers and if Ireland gets all the info, then the americans will all say more US! I personally think there does need to be a little more US, especially the DoTMs.

Yeh, I would love to see more Irish stuff in the magazine since it is called "irish dancing and culture" but I do know that the majority of IDM's readers are in the US so they have to balance it fairly... Its a tough one. x

Very impressive!

Te thing is, if they started putting in things like Irish language, it wouldn't really appeal to an Irish reader because we've all been learning Irish from theage of 4 or 5 but I'm sure that many people in other countries would loe to see that!
But would Irish dancers not be interested to learn about the place where Irish dance originated or do they just want to hear about what's going on iin the dance world!?!

Yes, and as Irishdanceerx said, the name of the mag was changed to "Irish Dancing and Culture" a while ago, so that's what you can expect to read about when you buy the magazine. It is true and fair that every country should be represented, but I think that Ireland should be the main focus as that is where Irish Dancing originated and where the heart of it still is. The USA have Feis America and Hornpipe Magazines, so they don't have to feel neglected.
