Default Have you ever had to take time off due to injury?

I've only ever taken about 2 or 3 weeks off, nothing really major. What about all of you?

I've had so many injuries, it's just ridiculous. generally when i've gotten injured i've been out 2-3 months. my last injury was 3 months ago, and i've recently found out that i won't be able to do irish dance any more. i'm trying to deal with it, but it's been very hard adjusting, for both myself and my mom. this is what i've done for 10 years, and now suddenly it stops, and not really because i was finished doing it but because i can no longer do it physically. it's very sad to me.

but anyway, most years i've missed quite a bit of dance time due to injury!

thank you. i'm still able to do ballet, contemporary, etc- they require different movements that i'm able to do, so i'm not out of dance completely, but i am really missing irish dance a lot. i can't imagine never doing it again.

I would certainly take off for a injury.
Yes it might be a bit hard being away for something so long but if you want to get back you have to let it heal of course.
But I would probably come to watch if I had a injury so I wouldn't forget anything.

No, I've been dancing for five years and I've never had a serious injury.I've had pulled muscles and leg cramps and sore knees lots of times, and last Winter I had a slight knee injury that kept on coming back for months, but I've never had to take more than a few days at a time off from practicing dance.

ive had two sprained ankles in the past year and have had to tke off for both of those. other than that ive never really been hurt (knock on wood) but ive also never really been serious about dancing until now.
it kills me to take off but i have to. when i do take off, i try to go to class so i can still learn what everyone else is learning.

as i type, I am taking time off from dancing due to a high ankle sprain i got 7 MONTHS ago. it definetly sucks, especially since i have never been off of dance for this long.

if anyone else has had a high ankle sprain, look at my thread called High Ankle Sprain Experiences under expert advice. it would be really useful to me to know how long others high ankle sprains had to take to heal before you could dance again.
