Exclamation Award Announcing

I think that it's a bit heartbreaking if the judges don't announce your name in the finals and such, but, at the same time, it feels good if you ARE selected. I have mixed feelings about it. Does anyone else? Am i the only one who believes such things?

I have to say that I have always loved how they announce awards for specials and champs. I think that it gives those good dancers their much deserved recognition. Rather than just reading your own scores off of a sheet and not knowing which number belongs to which dancer is really nice.
When they announce placements, I can be like, OK she danced better than I did, she deserved first place rather than seeing some random number on a paper. It is also really exciting for a dancer when she/he places. Their is always a lot of cheering and excitement, making each accomplishment that much more special

I was at a feis once where the announcers gave the wronge dancers the wrong places so the girl who won was accidentally placed second third was placed first. It was so dsad to see them have to give back the trophys reposition themselvesand then get awarded again lower.

Exclamation yeah

Here's a twin story for you.

Lexi and I were dancing in different Treble reel sections.

Lexi's went first and she got a 3rd.

Then they announced mine and I didn't place. I wasn't broken up at all tho because one of my best ID friends who doesn't usually place got FIRST!!!

We were SO HAPPY!!!!!

Then we all started to leave and the judge grabbed the mike and asked for everyone to come back. my friend was already downstairs 2 levels! (it was an open upper level to basement kind of place)

I yelled to her and she got this really weird and scared look on her face. she came running up the stairs in her solo dress and hard shoes. Then I heard everyone else yelling to me that I had gotten something. I had the most HORRIBLE feeling in the entire world. My friend went up to the stage monitor and asked her if she really got a first. the stage monitor said really mean in front of everyone that... "No. you didn't deserve that trophy. you got 3rd, but we don't take back trophies." My Friend burst into tears. Then the judge called me to her and gave me the third place trophy. I was horrified!!! My friend was trying to give ME the first place trophy and she couldn't stop crying and everyone was staring and then I started crying. It was horrible! Then the judge told me that that wasn't what happened. that she thought I was the same person as my sister. And since we both got third she decided to only place "me" in one comp. she then realized we were twins.

My friend by this point had run off. It was really hard trying to get her to understand. it was just awful. the next day tho things went awesome. It was another feis and out of 30 some people she got 3rd and I got 4th. And I told her "See! It wasn't a fluke yesterday!"

Beyond that tho... I think it's good to announce it if things are announced right. otherwise it doesn't really feel like a treble reel.

That's happened at the nationals a couple of times, but I've had that happen to me before! They skipped me and then after the awards had happened they came up to me and said that they accidently forgot to call me up!

Unhappy =/

Yeah, it really stunk.

But there's flaws in even the piece of paper method. Once they printed my twin's # wrong. The # was a girl who was 4!!!! (we're 15! XD ) we got home and looked at the postings online and LExi got 2nd!!!!

we were kind of upset and she never did get her medal.
