Default Is it actually true...

that things get so competitive at the major comps (Orieachtas, Worlds, NANS) that people do really mean things like slash shoes, steal dresses, ect. I don't think any ID I know would do that!

I've never been to a major, but I haven't heard of any of those things, except I did hear a story of a dress being stolen once. But really, anytime you get thousands of competitive people together, there is a chance bad things will happen. Most people are nice, but there are a few crazy people who do horrible things like that and ruin things for other people.

I never heard of them doing those typs of things as YOU said but it does get harder when you have World Champions in the same Age Group YOU are dancing in.
It will be tough because they will dance as hard as they can to get back on the Top.
What YOU have to do is fight back.
But I highly doubt they steal Dresses and such.
Now that is a "Poor" Sport and a un-worthy Champion.

It happened at WRO. I can't reveal details, but trust me, it's happened.

I've heard of this happening, but not so much in Irish dance... We're usually a pretty cheery bunch if I do say so myself I kinda feel sorry for the dancers who stoop to that level though. Less respect for them is all I can say.

I was listening to some Irish dance thing and a lady said that someone was stealing dresses. Here is the story...

At a feis (somewhere in the U.S or England) a lady came in with her daughter, her daughter was an Irish dancer, this girl was not a small girl...she was large for her age. And all of a sudden when she arrived all these dresses started disappearing. It was any kind of dress, from the beginner 3 to 4 year olds to the senior ladies where disappearing, like two to three an hour. And all of a sudden all these girls are saying "where's my dress?". Then shoes started disappearing! Now people started blaming schools. And schools where pointing at other schools so they had to stop the feis to figure out who's dress is missing who's shoes are missing. And they caught the lady, they set up a sting at the end, they had all these cameras around, and police where coming undercover. A bunch of people would hang up their dresses and go since their dances are in the afternoon. It was 1:30 and this lady comes in, all of a sudden she walks in this room, cameras are there, they saw her (large lady) pick up a dress, that would not fit her daughter, and leaves. The same lady comes in 20 mins later in another room. Two dress gone, a pair of shoes gone, and makeup bag gone. They caught her again so the police asked her to open her car trunk. when she opened it up it was LOADED with dresses. They took the dresses out and they where still dresses missing. They think she took the dresses back to the hotel...Apparently it wasn't the only feis she attacked. Think it was 15 or 50 dresses that where missing.

The lady said it might be rumored, but a lot of people backed it up...

Wow. I've never heard of that happening. Of course, the occasional dress might get stolen (or more likely taken by accident) but I haven't come across such strong bad sportsmanship.

Nope, not to me... I heard about it and while I wasn't specifically asked to, I would prefer not to reveal the details out of respect for certain people involved. It's all right to ask, I'd do the same thing in your place, but if you want to know, I'll have to PM you.
