dancing ban

Hey everyone i recently moved schools and i know that the ban is 6 months but it doesnt start until 1st january 2012 and i was just wondering if anybody knows whether i am able to dance in feises until january 2012 until my ban starts or whether im not allowed for the year ?

wait....so if you switch schools now it doesnt start until the following january?????????????? this is really important....im in southern us and i need to know if the ban starts right away or what....

I always thought the ban started right away.Why would it not start immediately?

well im in ireland and with an comhdail the ban is 6 months and doesnt start until the 1st of january and if you change in the middle of the year the ban starts on the 1st of the next year so for me i switched schools 2 months ago so my ban doesnt start until january 2012 so really i cant compete for a year because i have to waitthe rest of this year and then the 6 months when my ban starts in january its really confusing so dont be worried i was too at firsti think okay so basically i guess i just answered my own question haha

My advice to you would be to ask your new teacher- there really aren't many An Comhdail dancers on this site, 99% of us would be CLRG with only a few from different organisations.
Is there a set of official rules for An Comh you can look up for reference? It seems crazy, basically you still have another 12 months where you can't compete?!

yes basically another 12 months and im only 2 months in and its killing me lol watching everyone else dance and i cant. i suppose everything comes at a price right ? have tried to look up the rules online but cannot find anything. thanks for all your help everyone much appreciated.

I had the same problem...I transferred in January so I would have been out for 18 months! Thankfully I switched organisation back to Comdhail from I think WIDA... But anyways, yes I think unfortunately you're going to have to wait the 12 months. Ask your teacher though if you're unsure! However, just see this as an opportunity to make yourself the best dancer you can be...fine tune all your moves so that when you're ready to compete you really are ready to wow the adjudicators.
