Aherne Sheehan School of Irish Dance

The Aherne Sheehan School of Irish Dance offers Irish Dance classes for children and adults on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. From beginners taking their first steps to Open Championship dancers, the school provides instruction in both solo and céilí dancing in a fun, positive, and supportive learning environment.

Embracing both tradition and innovation, Aherne Sheehan trains dancers in the beauty and grace of traditional Irish Dance while keeping step with the energy and pace of modern life in New York City. The school strives to help every dancer bring out the best in themselves while encouraging and supporting one another.

At the heart of the Aherne Sheehan School are four core values: Confidence, Competence, Cooperation, and Community. Dancers are encouraged to build the confidence and self-belief needed to master new skills and perform for an audience; develop a strong foundation in Irish Dance technique and physical fitness; learn the importance of teamwork; and enjoy the friendships, support, and sense of community that come from being part of an Irish Dance school.

Students have opportunities to perform throughout the New York tri-state area and to compete at regional, national, and international levels.

The Aherne Sheehan School of Irish Dance is fully accredited with Comhdháil na Múinteoirí le Rincí Gaelacha Teoranta and is a proud member of the USA Irish Dance Alliance. All classes are taught by accredited TCRGs.
