Europe’s Largest Celebration of Irish Culture Heads to Belfast
The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is often considered the World Championships of Irish traditional music and is one of the largest celebrations of Irish culture, featuring music, dance, language and cultural arts. The Belfast event will bring together some of the world's finest traditional musicians, singers, dancers and performers, showcasing extraordinary talent while celebrating Ireland's rich cultural heritage.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Belfast City Hall, the Gig Rig is where the magic of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann comes alive for everyone. Running free from 11am to 11pm daily throughout the festival, this is the main outdoor stage - no ticket, no booking, just brilliant live music in the heart of the city.
Highlights from the programme include the opening event on 2 August, featuring the specially commissioned Sharing Traditions showcase, which will bring together traditional Irish musicians with Dhol drummers, Indian dancers, flute and pipe bands, and Highland dancers in a celebration of Belfast's shared identity. Traditional music icon Sharon Shannon and her Big Band will also perform as part of the opening night.
Throughout the week, audiences can enjoy performances from acclaimed acts including Lúnasa, Sí Fiddlers and a special multicultural collaboration, Connections, directed by Belfast composer Neil Martin and featuring musicians and dancers from diverse cultural traditions. The programme will also celebrate Ulster-Scots and Unionist heritage through a vibrant Ulster Bands showcase at Titanic Slipways.
The festival will conclude on 9 August with a special performance from Northern Ireland singer-songwriter Foy Vance, alongside the newly crowned winners of the prestigious Senior Céilí Band Competition, widely regarded as the pinnacle contest of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and a launchpad for some of traditional music's biggest names.
